Insights Studio
An Insight is a finding drawn from reviewing multiple records. A Record is a single unit of data, such as an MSL note, an advisory board transcript, or a survey response.
Where to Find It
Open the board from Insights in the left navigation menu. You can also add records to an Insight from several other pages without leaving them.
Location | What you can do there |
|---|---|
Insights Studio page | View the full board, create an Insight, move Insights between stages, comment |
Records page | Select records and add them to a new or existing Insight |
Stakeholder details page | Add that stakeholder's records to an Insight |
Collection details page | Add records from that Collection to an Insight |
Dashboard drill-down | Add the records behind a chart to an Insight |
Creating an Insight from Selected Records
- Open any page listed above and select the records you want to use as evidence.
- Click + Insight.
- Choose whether to create a new Insight or add to an existing one.
- For a new Insight, enter a name or short description, optional Details, and a Stage.
- For an existing Insight, select it from the list.
- Click Add.
Creating an Insight from Scratch
Use this when you want to test an assumption before the evidence exists. You can attach records later.
- Click Insights Studio in the navigation menu.
- Click Create Insight.
- Enter a name or short description, optional Details, and a Stage.
- Click Save. The Insight appears on the board.
What You See on the Board
The board shows your Insights as cards arranged in columns, one column per stage. Stage names, count, and order are configured per project, so your board reflects your own insight process rather than a fixed set of statuses.
Each card represents one Insight. Reading across the columns tells you how much of your evidence has been reviewed and agreed on, and how much is still unvalidated.
To move an Insight: drag the card to another stage. You can move it forward, backward, or skip stages.
Reading an Insight's Details Page
Click a card to open its details page. You see:
- The Insight name
- Further details about the Insight
- Metrics about the attached records, such as the number of stakeholders and the number of sources
- The records currently attached to the Insight
Treat the metrics as a description of what is attached right now, not a measure of how widespread the finding is. Open the records themselves before you rely on the Insight.
Acting on an Insight
To edit or delete the Insight:
- Click the ellipses (...) in the header.
- Click Edit Insight or Delete Insight.
To remove records:
- Select one or more records.
- Click Remove at the top of the page.
Removing a record from an Insight does not remove it from your project. It stays available on the Records page and in any Collection it belongs to.
To comment:
- On the Insights page, click Comment at the top to leave a comment on the whole board. This is useful for notes from a review meeting.
- On an Insight's details page, click Comment at the top or Comments in the header to comment on that Insight only.
Writing an Insight Others Can Use
The name carries most of the meaning, since it is all a reviewer sees on the board. Write it as a finding, not a topic.
Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
"Dosing" | "Community oncologists want clearer guidance on dose reduction after Grade 3 events" |
"Access issues" | "Prior authorization delays are pushing treatment start beyond four weeks in the Southeast" |
"Interesting AB feedback" | "Advisors question the comparator choice in the Phase III design" |
Tips:
- Put the specifics in Details: what you observed, where it came from, what decision it affects.
- Set the stage honestly at creation. An unvalidated observation belongs in an early stage.
- Keep one finding per Insight. Splitting a finding across several Insights makes the board harder to review.
What to expect
- Stages are configured per project, so a stage name on your board may not match another team's board.
- The metrics on the details page count only the records currently attached.
- An Insight can hold records from more than one Collection, source, and region.
- After adding records from another page, refresh the Insight's details page if they do not appear right away.
