Getting Started: Pulling a Monthly Summary of What the Field Is Hearing
Where to find it
Open Strategy in the left navigation. You can view every KIQ in your project, one per row.
Note: Your project may be configured to refer to KIQs as Key Insight Topics (KITs) instead. This article will use the term KIQs.
Column | What it tells you |
|---|---|
Title | The question itself |
Summary | A short version of the standing answer built from all records collected to date |
What's New | What changed in the most recent reporting period, and whether it affects the standing answer |
Metrics | How much evidence sits behind the report, including record and stakeholder counts |
Reports update when Sorcero ingests new relevant records. After the month ends, a snapshot of that month's report is saved so you can look back at it later.
Pulling the summary
- Go to Strategy and scan the list for the KIQs relevant to your team's current focus.
- Read the What's New entry for each one. This is the fastest read on what moved this period.
- Click the KIQ to open its detail page.
- Click View Full Report for the complete standing answer.
- Copy the report content into your monthly document, then add your own commentary on top.
Reading the report
The summary is the standing answer to the question, built from every record collected across all periods. It is not a snapshot of the last month. Read it for the settled picture: what stakeholders are saying, who is saying it, and whether the evidence is converging.
What's New covers only the most recent period. It states whether the new records reinforced the existing picture, added a dimension to it, or pointed somewhere different. Three cases to recognize:
What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
A note that no records have been collected | Nothing has matched this KIQ yet. Reporting starts once matching records arrive. |
A note that this is the first reporting period so there's no What's New. | Records exist, but there is no earlier period to compare against. Nothing in this entry is a trend. |
A comparison against the standing answer | Two or more periods of data exist. This is the entry to read for change. |
Treat anything flagged as new or diverging as a prompt to look at the records behind it, not as a conclusion.
Metrics tell you how much weight the report carries. Record count and distinct stakeholder count are different numbers: one stakeholder can appear across many records, and one record can involve several stakeholders. A report built from 60 records and 4 stakeholders is a narrower signal than one built from 60 records and 30 stakeholders.
The Metrics column also carries status badges. Queued for Processing means the report has not been built yet. Last Processing Failed means the most recent attempt did not complete.
Working with the records behind a report
- On the KIQ detail page, find the Data Retrieval Summary section.
- Click any tile in that section. The records sidebar opens showing the records behind that tile.
- Review the records, then select the ones you want and choose an action:
- Export to .xlsx or .csv
- Add to a Collection
- Add to an Insight
- Add a Label
Checking two or three source records before you quote a finding in a leadership summary is worth the two minutes.
What to expect
- Reports are built only from records in your project. Nothing outside your data is used.
- A KIQ added today will show no data until the next report is built. Check back the following day.
- Counts and attributions come from record metadata. If a field is missing on a record, that record still counts but is left out of that breakdown.
- Adding or editing KIQs requires admin permissions. Most users can read the matrix but not change it.
